RE: Joplin Tornado Event 2011 – Electronic Waste Recycling

To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to recommend Midwest Recycling Center (MRC) for any future endeavors with your company. I worked closely with MRC and owner, Tony Krieg, during the last several months on the USEPA Region 7 Joplin Tornado Event 2011 project and applaud MRC’s commitment to support the recycling needs of the project.

On May 22nd, 2011 the city of Joplin, MO was devastated by a powerful EF5 tornado. Environmental Restoration (ER) was tasked by the USEPA for the recovery of household hazardous waste including electronic waste from approximately 7,000 structures impacted by the storm. MRC was selected for the recycling of all recovered electronic waste including CRT monitors, computers, stereo equipment, microwave ovens, and any electronics with a cord or battery. MRC overcame project challenges including keeping pace with a high volume of electronics within a short period of time as well as processing severely damaged and mangled electronics from the storm.

MRC successfully demanufactured and recycled over 312,000 lbs of miscellaneous electronic waste recovered during the relief effort in accordance with all state and federal regulations. I am confident that the depth of experience MRC brings to the table will ensure continued success within the industry.

Sincerely,
Evan Wortman, CHMM
Project Manager
